A New Beginning—and a Return

Sometimes, an idea won’t wait its turn.

For a long time, I’ve carried the seed of a series—something quiet, human, reflective. Something less about saving the world and more about surviving it, especially in the quieter corners of modern life.

That idea became How They Grow—a narrative series that will follow very different characters, in very different places, through very different struggles. Each story will ask the same underlying question: What does it mean to grow without disappearing?

I’m happy to announce that the first book in this series is now published:

How They Grow: Among Cubicles and Questions

It’s a slow novelette. Quiet, introspective, and honest. It follows Alex—a burned-out office worker—through a subtle inner reckoning as they begin to dismantle the weight of expectation and performance in their day-to-day life. If you’ve ever stared at your inbox and wondered if this is really it, this one’s for you.

This book is deeply personal, and in some ways, a creative departure. But it’s also the start of something I’ve wanted to build for years—a literary space where readers can explore emotional growth in all its strange and ordinary forms.

And now that Among Cubicles and Questions is out in the world, I’m heading back to a story many of you have been patiently waiting for:

Yes—Tracy Adams: Omenborn is next.

The pages are waiting, and the story’s heartbeat is still strong. I’ll be returning to that world with fresh energy—and maybe a little more presence than before.

Thank you, as always, for reading. For believing. For letting me write in more than one voice.

Onward,
—B. Brant
